Spring Lake Fire Station No. 1 is a new 14,000-sf building with a 3-bay drive-through apparatus bay. The building includes a day room/kitchen and sleeping quarters for the fire fighters, and support spaces. The building also includes office space for the County Sherriff. The Sherriff and Fire Department share a common lobby that includes service counters and subtle security features to limit public access into the space.
The exterior of the building was designed with brick detailing and a sloped roof to blend into the nearby residential neighborhood. The apparatus bay was placed behind the sloped roof portion of the building to minimize its visual impact on the neighborhood. The project includes solar panels on the apparatus bay roof and achieved LEED Silver certification.
