SpartanNash | Grand Rapids Service Center Renovation

SpartanNash, like many organizations, decided to revamp their workplace because of a “new normal” brought on by COVID-19.  The design incorporated large areas of glazing on the exterior and interior, removing physical barriers, placing leadership in highly visible locations, and balancing high-impact spaces with cost-effective solutions. The final strategy increased the capacity of the facility 20% while reducing the number of assigned seats through an increase in hoteling stations, conference rooms, informal collaboration space, and private enclaves. A phased schedule for construction was developed to allow the early phases of the project to begin construction while the later phases were still being developed. This approach allowed operations to continue during construction and sped up the overall project schedule.
