City of Riverside | Olentangy Drive Bridge Replacement

City of Riverside | Olentangy Drive Bridge Replacement

Fishbeck provided funding application assistance to the City to replace the existing Olentangy Drive bridge over Lilly Creek. We prepared a feasibility study to recommend the replacement structure type with preliminary construction costs. This evaluation was included in the application which was submitted to ODOT by Fishbeck. The City and Fishbeck summarized this information in a joint presentation to ODOT. The City was awarded funding in October 2019, covering 95% of the eligible costs under the ODOT Municipal Bridge Program.
Fishbeck was later selected by the City to perform preliminary and final design services, as the project was administered through ODOT District 7 as a Local Public Agency project. Fishbeck performed a structure type study supporting the bridge being replaced with a single-span precast box culvert, 20-foot span by 4-foot rise. Fishbeck design services included project management, utility coordination and relocations, survey, ROW plans for temporary and permanent takes, hydraulic analysis, roadway, bridge, and MOT plans.
Fishbeck was also contracted through Montgomery County Environmental Services to design and plan production services for an impacted sanitary sewer within the project limits. A new 6-inch diameter sanitary siphon was designed to be placed below the new bridge crossing in the stream. The sanitary sewer was replaced within the project limits and all work will be performed during the bridge replacement.
