Michigan Department of Transportation | M-231 Over the Grand River

The 7-mile route connects M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive) in Robinson Township to M-104/I-96 in Crockery Township, providing a much-needed additional crossing of the Grand River. The bridge is 3,709-ft long, making it the sixth-longest bridge in the state of Michigan.

Fishbeck provided inspection and testing services for a new substructure and superstructure for the approach spans. Construction of the new structure included 1.263 miles of new concrete roadway. Clearing, excavation, concrete pavement, culverts, guardrail, fence, retaining walls, wetland mitigation, bridge approaches, grading, and pavement markings were all part of the project. This project contained the special provision for e-Construction Pilot Project with MDOT’s ProjectWise full web access made available for documentation posting.
