Gratiot Area Water Authority | Saint Louis Groundwater Supply Replacement

Gratiot Area Water Authority | Saint Louis Groundwater Supply Replacement

The Cities of Saint Louis and Alma, Michigan formed the Gratiot Area Water Authority to oversee the replacement of the Saint Louis municipal groundwater supply after discovering the wells had been contaminated by a Superfund site located within the City limits. Fishbeck planned, designed, and performed construction phase engineering services to replace the Saint Louis water supply via connection to the nearby Alma water system.

The project was a massive undertaking that included expanding the former Alma Water Treatment plant, constructing two new booster pumping stations to direct water to Saint Louis, new dual finished water transmission mains, a regional hydrogeological study, new water supply wells and associated raw water transmission main, and a new elevated water storage tank in the City of St Louis.
