Fishbeck worked with the Franklin County Engineer’s Office to conduct a feasibility study for determining the most cost-effective structure replacement of a deficient culvert on Olentangy River Road over Carhart Ditch. As part of the feasibility study, a determination was performed to evaluate full roadway closure versus part-width construction during installation.
In addition, a hydraulic analysis was developed as part of the study using HEC-RAS software and the model included multiple structures downstream of the culvert to accurately represent the surrounding area. Fishbeck completed design of a 126-foot-long, 10- by 12-foot precast 4-sided box culvert with 20 feet of fill that includes full-height, cast-in-place wingwalls with aesthetic stone formliner. Utility coordination, roadway approach work, and MOT for a full closure were also included.
