Fishbeck provided architectural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design services from investigation through construction administration, for a new outpatient psychiatric day program. The program space includes a group therapy room, an activity therapy room, consultation areas, an exam room, office space, a restroom, and support spaces. The space takes advantage of daylighting opportunities through borrowed light, interior windows, and Sky Factory Luminous SkyCeilings and Luminous Virtual Windows, all which create a welcoming atmosphere. The safety of all patients and staff is highlighted through the design and incorporation of anti-ligature fixtures, safety glazing, and unobstructed views throughout the suite. Many unique anti-ligature fixtures were installed in the restroom and exam room including grab bars, coat hooks, sinks, mirror, paper dispenser, medical supply storage, and door hardware.
Technology is an integral part of therapy and robust audio-visual technology was installed in the space. In the interest of anonymity and privacy, a sound-masking system was installed within the suite to prevent acoustic transmission.
