Due to aging MEP infrastructure (mostly original to the 1961 building) the Eppley Center systems needed a complete overhaul. Consistent comfort complaints from occupants reinforced this need for an upgrade. Additionally, with the completion of the new MSU Minskoff Pavilion, the appearance of the adjacent Eppley Center was considered dated and in need of a refresh. The work for the Eppley Center was ultimately split into two projects consisting of the MEP renovation and the building envelope refresh — both progressing in a parallel path.
Coordinating the new design with its physical constraints required many onsite hours by the design team to ensure the new layout was feasible and documented clearly in the design documents.
