Fishbeck was contracted with the Ohio Department of Transportation Office of Structural Engineering to perform various statewide municipal bridge inspections. Numerous bridges scoped for inspection were river crossing structrues with inaccessable spans. Traditionally, a snooper truck or canoe would be required to access the portions of the bridges over water. To access these river spans Fishbeck utilized a UAS to remotely inspect the bridge from a safe location on the river bank. The use of UAS over traditional methods reduced field time and increased safety of the bridge inspectors.
