Fishbeck developed a comprehensive, multi-county Materials Management
Plan (MMP) for Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau Counties that addresses
the unique challenges and opportunities of a rural region while meeting Michigan’s
Part 115 Materials Management Planning requirements.
Working closely with county staff, the Designated Planning Agency (DPA),
the Materials Management Planning Committee (MMPC), local governments,
service providers, and community stakeholders, our team prepared a strategic
roadmap that reflects the region’s infrastructure, demographics, and long-term
sustainability goals.
The plan integrates data-driven analysis, policy development, funding strategies,
and measurable implementation actions to expand recycling, composting,
and materials recovery while improving equitable access to services
across the three-county region.
Through an extensive public engagement process and collaborative planning
approach, our team delivered a practical, forward-looking plan that accurately
reflects the needs and priorities of the participating counties and provides a
framework for sustainable materials management well into the future.
