The Fishbeck Survey Department assisted Hardman Construction with their need to produce a 3D as-built of an earth retention system (ERS) installed on the north lawn area of the Michigan State Capitol Building in Lansing. The project was completed as part of the Capitol Buildings upgrade to geothermal heating/ cooling system and is one part of an overall project to reduce the buildings energy consumption. Data was obtained using terrestrial LiDAR scanning techniques with a Leica P20 Scanner. The data was used to model the ERS system in REVIT and is tied into site control and the existing building to provide as-built information once the system is buried for future construction needs.
