Fishbeck is developing a new Materials Management Plan (MMP) for Saginaw County in accordance with the requirements for the MMP as set forth in Part 115, EGLE Materials Management Plan Requirements. The MMP will include the following:
- Establish and set priorities for the planning area
- Identify types and volumes of waste generated
- Identify all materials management facilities and available capacity
- Document transportation infrastructure
- Calculate existing recycling rates
- Set materials management goals
- Create an implementation strategy
- Create enforceable mechanisms and identify responsible parties
- Develop needed facilities
- Set regional incentives
- Schedule community planning meetings
- Review MMP/public meeting process
This comprehensive plan will prioritize sustainable materials management approaches like recycling and composting instead of landfilling waste. It will include measurable targets and implementation frameworks for various managed materials, including organics and recyclables.
