MidMichigan Medical Center — West Branch is an 88-bed licensed acute care facility serving the communities in Northeast Michigan. The new 18,000-sf emergency department addition was built to replace the existing emergency department within the first floor footprint of the hospital, allowing floor space for diagnostic and imaging. The addition was built while maintaining 24-hour emergency operations. The new ED includes three entry points: a new visitor/patient entrance that connects to the main hospital, a decontamination/isolation entry suite with adjacent treatment rooms, and a drive-up/EMS canopied entrance. A welcoming lobby/registration/triage space separates public from the 14 private treatment rooms, two trauma rooms, and clinical support space. Fishbeck provided architectural and structural engineering design as a sub-consultant to Three Rivers Corporation.
