Michigan State University | Chemistry Building

Michigan State University recognized the chemistry building, despite numerous renovations over its 40-year life, was in need of further renovation and the addition of space. Fishbeck was hired to study the Chemistry Department’s needs and recommended a program to renovate and expand the facility. The project added approximately 31,000 gross sf over seven levels, to be used as offices, classrooms, and seminar rooms, and included the addition of approximately 20,000 gross sf in the existing building to create new classrooms/laboratories. Fishbeck acted as the sustainable design consultant, civil engineer, architect, performed mechanical and electrical commissioning and was responsible for the LEED for New Construction Silver certified addition.
