The Ohio State University | 3D Laser Scanning Pomerene Hall Renovation

The Ohio State University | 3D Laser Scanning Pomerene Hall Renovation

Pomerene Hall is a 94-year old historical, 4-story building that underwent major renovations, including updating cramped mechanical spaces. To capture all mechanical spaces and areas with historical significance, Fishbeck used laser scanning to provide a complete and accurate map of all mechanical equipment and associated piping. The mechanical spaces would have been near impossible to accurately map with conventional survey methods. With the data collected from the laser scanning, 3D models were built of existing piping and mechanical equipment to ensure proper placement and sizing of new equipment.

Along with laser scanning, Fishbeck provided mechanical and electrical engineering services, and associated design and construction administration services for the Pomerene and Oxley Halls renovation. The two buildings were renovated as one project to house the University’s new Data Analytics Program, the Art History Program, the Linguistics Program, and to provide new classroom space.
