Fishbeck was recently selected by MDOT as the prime design consultant for reconstruction of I-475 from Thread Creek to the Flint River in Flint. The project includes full replacement of the freeway, drainage system, and lighting, and rehabilitation of four bridges and replacement of one multi-span structure with two shorter bridges. A unique challenge will be replacement of the 20- by 12-foot culvert that carries Gilkey Creek some 30 feet under the freeway. The estimated project construction cost is $100M. Kamran Qadeer, Transportation Department Director, lead the proposal development. Dave Eno will be the overall project manager with Raja Jildeh as the structural manager. The design will take place in 2021 and early 2022, with construction in 2023.
