The LBWL needed to replace their outdated and inefficient power plant located in the historic REO Town area on the south side of Lansing. Fishbeck worked as part of a team of designers for the overall project which included a new cogeneration power plant, renovations to the historic railroad depot, and a new administrative office building for the LBWL.
Fishbeck developed interior design and planning concepts for the new 40,000-sf office building portion of the project. The 4-story building includes new administrative offices and flexible open office space for the various LBWL departments. The office design includes a new 2-story lobby with space for public presentations and vehicle display.
The new office is LEED certified and utilizes green features such as daylight harvesting, carpet made from recycled materials and cork flooring. The building also includes a new wellness center to encourage employee fitness.
